Permanent Hair Reduction

Permanent hair reduction treatments are an easy, painless and quick solution to unwanted hair and can be successfully used on the body or the face. Usually, a course of 8-10 treatments is required to achieve an optimal result, but once you've completed your treatment cycle, you can look forward to a lifetime of smooth skin with only the occasional maintenance treatment. Compare that to the cost and hassle of a lifetime of waxing.

It’s a common complaint for those who’ve experienced laser hair removal in the past that they’re just not seeing the results they hoped for. Our Dermal Therapist started her career in hair removal and has a vast understanding on laser technology and each individual client’s hair, skin & internal factors that may be impacting the effectiveness of results. We take the time to individualising your treatment to optimise treatment efficacy.

How does it work?

The laser emits a wavelength of light which is absorbed by melanin (pigment or colour) in the hair travelling down the hair shaft destroying the hair follicle. The hair follicle absorbs the thermal energy emitted by the laser beam and destroys the region that is responsible for hair growth. The darker the hair the more absorption of heat, resulting in a very effective treatment for dark hairs. Due to new technology and modern lasers combined with the extra heat from radio frequency we are now capable of detecting hair with lower levels of pigment e.g. dark blonde hair.

There are still no light-based devices that are effective of treating hair with no colour e.g red, white, or grey. Some red hair types may be treated of if it contains some level brown pigment.

How to prepare for treatment

1. Avoid direct sun exposure as for 2 weeks prior to your treatment. If you have sun exposure, ensure you apply sunscreen to the treatment area for 2-4 weeks prior to treatment.

2. Avoid using fake tans for at least 2 weeks prior to your treatment (the lasers look for pigment, application of fake tan can result in burns). This also includes not taking any melanin enhancing supplements before, during and for a period of time after completion of treatment.

3. Do not pluck, wax, bleach or thread the hair leading up to your laser treatment or between treatments (shaving between treatments is recommended).

4. Please shave 1 day prior to your treatment.
